Hazel Mitchell P. HEc., Founding Principal
Hazel Mitchell is a founding principal of Chinook Coaching and Consulting.

Hazel is presently employed by Lethbridge Community College. Since moving to the college-level educational environment, she has spent 18 years developing community outreach and managing programs in the Allied Health and Wellness area. Hazel’s focus has been on health based program development and management, development of program based outcomes and designing curriculums to meet those outcomes. Hazel has been a pivotal administrator in the planning, design, implementation and delivery of many and varied credit and non-credit programs. Her capability in delivering programs with high academic standards that meet the fiscal and human resource bottom line is well established. Hazel began her career with Manitoba Agriculture as an Extension Home Economist working with rural families, youth and organizations. While with Manitoba Agriculture, her areas of focus were adult extension, extension training, program planning, management and supervision – she has a well rounded background in all forms of adult education and community development.

Hazel’s interest in community betterment has provided her with opportunities to develop community partnerships and networks. Hazel has held executive positions and provided leadership to the Mental Health Promotion Committee of Southern Alberta and the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Coordinating Committee for the past 15 years.

Hazel has a Bachelor of  Home Economics and has been a member in good standing of several professional organizations: Manitoba Home Economics Association, the Canadian Home Economics Association and is presently a member of the Alberta Home Economics Association. Hazel is also a past board member of the Canadian Society of Extension and the recipient of their Honorary Life Membership Award for her contribution to the organization. In recognition of her extension expertise Hazel contributed to the Extension Handbook Processes and Practices edited by Donald J. Blackburn. She was a founding Director of the Manitoba 4-H Foundation.

Throughout her career Hazel has been involved in helping people and communities build capacity for change and improvement. She looks forward to sharing her skills and expertise with you.
